Band & The Beat: Straight and Narrow

Band & The Beat, the dream pop synth side-project by Tracy Shedd and James Tritten, have released their second digital 45. Straight and Narrow b/w Jimmy's Jam is a double whammy of sample-free electronics that will appeal to fans Portishead, Dead Can Dance, and ... wait for it ... Pet Shop Boys.

Electronic music is often labeled as soul-less and cold, but Band & The Beat are capable of creating an intimate. cozy vibe. Technology is cool and all that, but music needs a human touch to make an impact. Check the old school lead keyboards part taking off the edge of the harsh drum sound in Straight and Narrow. Adding just a bit of echo the vocals gives the track an extra layer of urgency. Jimmy's Jam is a plea for the need to be left alone and going your own way, while ignoring the pressures of the outside world.

Straight and Narrow is released by Fort Lowell Records. Buy it from Bandcamp, Amazon, Google Play or iTunes.
