Christopher Paul Stelling: False Cities

Christopher Paul Stelling

Singer-songwriter Christopher Paul Stelling has been on the road pretty much full-time since he released his debut album Songs of Praise and Scorn in February 2012. He has seen a lot while traveling and many tales found their way to his new album False Cities. He is old school, relying on his voice and acoustic guitar to get his message across, with a bit of violin (Kieren Ledwigde) and bass (Michael Harlen).

His hoarse vocals, not unlike Kevn Kinney and Malcolm Holcombe, add a touch of Gothic to the songs with lyrics that owe a huge debt to gospel. He uses field recordings of creaking doors and crickets. Stelling has come up with a recipe for tasty Americana that will be embraced by folkies all over the world.
