Children Of The Stones is a new electronic shoegaze supergroup of sorts. Mark Van Hoen (Black Hearted Brother, Seefeel, Locust, Scalla) and Martin Maeers are the core tof the procject project who will release two EPs and a full-length They are joined by Rachel Davies (Esben & The Witch), Neil Halstead (Slowdive, Black Hearted Brother, Mojave 3, solo) & Al Forrester and Angus Finlayso.
Their debut release Extended Play, four tracks and two remixes of the lead single The Stars & The Silence, goes back to the early Eigthies, replicated with modern technology. Children Of The Stone show a knack for meandering dystopic synth soundscapes. There is no proper English translation for the Portuguese feeling called Saudade, but the duo have found a way to transfer it to a melancholic downtempo piece of electronic sadness.
Captivating and dreamlike, the music wraps itself around the listener like a comfy blanket. Draw the shades, pour some wine, curl up and go with the flow.
Extended Play will be released on Saint Marie Records. Release date: February 18th.
