Yuval Ron & Residents Of The Future: Flags

Jazz rock and its close relative fusion are musical genres whose performers often indulge into way too many notes and not so much of an actual tune. Berlin based Yuval Ron & Residents Of The Future don't let their prowess overshadow the music.

With guest stunt vocalist Tammy Scheffer their new song Flags starts with proggy keyboards on top of a bubbling jazz bass line laid down by Roberto Badogliot. When Scheffer hits her first note the band switches to an early Yes (no pun intended) mood. Keyboard player Falk Bonit comes up with solo straight from the Derek Sherinian text book. Band leader, composer and guitar player Yuval Ron weighs in with a short and sweet solo, but the band's major force is drummer Yatziv Caspi who gets loud when the track needs it and knows how to hold back too.

This band is a breath of fresh air in the rather stuffy electric progressive jazz niche. Subscribers to to the band's mailing list get a free download the full-length Residence Of The Future.
