Beware of artists who have found God. It's all angels with broken wings and Babylon. UK Eighties icon Boy George used a lot of drugs and got into loads of trouble, which was all over the tabloids. Reinventing himself as a DJ worked quite well, but of course he wanted to go out there with a new album. Ordinary Alien – The Kinky Roland Files sounds dated in a bad way. Cheesy synths and an antiquated drum sound make this an instant curio. Sanitized come with an intro straight out of the waste basket of New Order, and is he really serious with his Psychology of a Dreamer?
Boy George still has a great voice, which shouldn't be buried under layers of sound effects. A capable producer has to see to that for the next one. As it stands the only memorable track is Kill The A&R, a catchy tune giving the finger to the majors.
