Kingsley Flood: Dust Windows

Boston band Kingsley Flood plays modern day classic folk rock, half way between Dylan and The Band, and early eighties UK bravado by The Clash in their heyday. Songwriter and vocalist Naseem Khuri delivers his lyrics with a hoarse voice, stretching his vocal chords to reach the notes. The band's resident multi-instrumentalist Michael Spaly can make his fiddle dance and play up a storm on guitar, banjo and mandolin.

Folk music is basically dance music with meaningful lyrics. That combination works best when delivered at breakneck speed and Kingsley Flood knows it when they hit the ground running with Devils Arms, Roll of the Dice and When I Grow Up. Songs like the mid-tempo Cul de Sac and Stoop Cats (lots of fake endings and a capella bits) can act as a breather in the live set.

Kingsley Flood:
Nick Balkin: bass, vocals
Chris Barrett: trumpet
Will Davies: drums, percussion, vocals
Naseem Khuri: vocals, rhythm guitars
Michael Spaly: fiddle, lead guitars, guitar, banjo, mandolin
