Baltimore duo Misses Ellen Sunday and her Fantastic Cats are into lo-fi folk-tinged bluegrass with a side order of brass. Jason Reed and Kristi Ellen fell in love in the summer of 2009, and by fall were making music together. With their album Cigarette Trees is . With the aid of Will Pattie (trombone) and Ruby Fulton (trumpet & accordion), they created something that screeches and twists. It is like a long lost Alan Lomax field recording - their songs sound as old as the hills.
Cigarette Trees as an album that tastes like evil moonshine whiskey. It's bad for you, but you can't resist another taste. They are down for playing at your house party. Bring your own booze (lots of it).
